South Surrey White Rock Minor Softball Association (SSWRMSA) is excited to announce Stephanie Balog as Head Coach of the U11 Thunder Select 2016 team for the 2026 season.
In addition to her head coach role, Stephanie will serve as a Lead Instructor for the U11 Thunder Renegades Softball Skills Academy, a 16-week training program in partnership with the White Rock Renegades, beginning October 2025. The academy will deliver high-quality offseason training for U11 Rep and U11C players ahead of spring tryouts for the U11 Thunder Select 2016 team. (Players must be registered with a SSWRMSA U11C team to be eligible for tryouts.)
A former varsity softball player who still competes at the women’s level, Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from Queen’s University, with coursework in coaching and sport psychology. She is currently working toward NCCP Levels 1 and 2 and brings coaching experience with SSWRMSA Learn to Play, U7, U9, and the YMCA Youth Basketball League. Outside of sport, she is a family and maternity physician, bringing strong leadership, communication, and player development skills.
“I’m thrilled to take on these new responsibilities,” says Coach Balog. “I look forward to helping our young athletes fall in love with the game, build their skills, and grow into confident, well-rounded players—both on and off the field.”
With her “fun first, fundamentals always” approach, Coach Balog is set to make a positive and lasting impact on our athletes. Academy registration opens in early September.
